The only real difference is the preamp. I played the one I bought at GC and swapped back and forth with the U.S. Stingray 5 for about 45 minutes. The pickups/bass overall sounds awesome. Apparently they are custom spec'd Seymour Duncans. Sounds like a P bass but bit more focused (exactly like how JMJ described it). The bass came with a good quality padded Fender gig bag and not some cheap thin garbage lol. Totally usable for pro gigging.
