Answer 1 of 12: I am planning a first time visit to Charleston the week of October 4th. I have considered staying at the Old Village Post House in Mt. Pleasant. Any thoughts to its location and activities in the Historic District?
Look at a map to see the area. Spring and President is not safe to be walking along; you're probably OK inside a locked house. Spring and King would be worse. I don't know how guests access the Hyatt property there at the corner when the police are limiting traffic routes.First time visitors guide. Prior to moving here, we would usually spend 8 days, 7 nights. We always had a rental car though. So much to do and see in the area. If you intend to stay in Charleston alone, I would plan on 5 days, 4 nights, Taking into account travel days, that gives your three full days to explore. Report inappropriate content. jly68.
Save. The train route from DC to Charleston is long but scenic (IMO). In viewing the scenery it helps to know what you are looking at, so do some research in advance. If it is running on time (which is no certainty), the daytime train gets you into Charleston early enough for hotel check in and a late supper.
