What I was referring to was my Sportsman 48 has the same friction ring but also a couple of additional rings, one of which you can reverse depending on the load. The Model 11 schematic shows very similar rings. My 11-48 doesn't have those two additional rings, only the friction ring. The highest serial number I've recorded is 804163 with a barrel date code of KTT which is K = May TT=1948. The 48 Sportsman would have a rounded off receiver, much like an 1100 or 870. A Sportsman 58 would be much the same, but gas operated.
