Bob Gillis was my favorite professor at Portland State. There's no competition. While he's a bit weird, and he does tend to go on tangents, he presents the subject matter in a way that is engaging and very interesting. Case study (CS) readings 2x a week, six 1 page CS opinion writeups, and a final paper.
John Hall is a high quality professor. He knows history of economic thought like the back of his hand and takes time to learn each students name. In this course prof hall requires each student to meet with him for 15 minutes to discuss a term topic. You will be able to talk the talk after this course and will have better writing skills. The material for the class is challenge and but Dan does a really good job teaching it. Take CS311 with him, you won't find a better teacher. The material of his course is really interesting, though that is pushed off to the side by his racist remarks and nonchalant bragging about beating SA Allegations. This man has bragged about bringing liquor to class.
Bin is a great professor, but his accent can make him hard to understand at times. His usual grading is 50% midterm, 50% final, and his feedback is not very useful.
