The thing that put me off the idea is that your early game is going to be a nightmare since you lack a lot of the abilities to make it work till at least level 7, along with the fact that it requires the right gear more than the traditional tanks. Since the character is in a party, and I assume micromanaged, it has kind of freedom to focus on intended purpose: deadly rogue, while forfeiting defensive treats, which will be provided by the party members.

However rogues are one of the best if not best class for multi classing. Multi classing with any other martial class is a good idea. Or even a rogue cipher is a great combo, especially if you go with the soul blade cipher. Chanter is also one of the best multi classes, and that mixed with a rogue is crazy good too.
