LS7x. 590 posts · Joined 2010. #6 · Jun 5, 2010. The c5's can handle a lot with some decent mods... there are plenty of upgrades for the stock A4 tranny's go with a xtreme duty rear and upgrade the half shafts.... most of the guys I know are putting 700+ to the rear wheels and they are holding up.

The company www.bieberfever.com sells thier trannys. They have an AOD level 3 that can handle up to 550 horses for $1,905.The engines made anywhere from 800 tp 1200 HP. We revved them to an average 7000 rpm. I preferred the injected methanol motors, which were based on 427 tall truck blocks with 1/4 inch longer rods. It did no good to make much more power, you set the boat up to run around 110 mph on the straight always with good excelleration out of the turns.
A well built 4l60e can handle some serious power. We have cars running 500-600 and 700 rwhp as the power increases of course the odds of failure do increase but we have had very good results. You can get that power from one of the larger turbos with 23+ psi and race gas. It's possible to reach 400 whp on the stock block, with the right tune and upgrades (Turbo, E85, etc). It's even possible for this to be reliable, for a while. The 2.3T Ecoboost motor is a fragile ecosystem though. If one little thing goes wrong, or you get a bad tank of gas, it can be an expensive problem.
