For 2-3 days maybe, but having meltdown in 1 day for some minor convenience is not realistic at all, especially for survivors on some distant planet. Simple, you crash on an alien planet, so you want to go home. Do the expeditions to scout the area, then once you got it build the station. You can leave in like year 3 if you know how to play, so there is no long sandbox mode if you keep aiming for leaving the planet. But if you want to stay that is an option as well.MORE.
