Found that the gray wire on the ignition switch only had 1 volt on it. Took the ignition switch apart and found resistor had broken and appeared to be making intermittent contact.Clutch Slipping. My 2003 Vulcan 1500 Classic clutch started slipping at 38000 miles so I took it to the dealer and he replaced the clutch. I complained that the friction point was too close, about 1/4" from the handle bar grips and he told me it was because of my after market hydraulic reservoirs.

My 1500 did it for years. I got 55,000 miles out of the first set of clutch plates. When I replaced mine, I only did the clutch friction pads and not the metal plates.
