Re: Timing on a 1990 Evinrude 150. DHadley correctly describes the results of over advancing a crossflow. I did this in early June to a 90 HP 1988 Evinrude. New wiesco's, after an hour or so of running easy, opened it up for about 10 seconds, RPM was ballistic, no tach, heard what sounded like detonation.

As long as the fuel system is funtioning correctly, you can vary that by several degrees and you'll know by the rpm's at idle in gear when you have it right.

Hi. I have a 1985 Johnson 100 hp commercial outboard. The model number is J100WMLCOC. I cannot find the wot timing spec anywhere. I have looked many times on the net and here with no luck. What I am seeing is cranking at wot with the timer base rubber stop hitting it's stop is 21 degrees. Of course at wot this should equate to 25 degrees.Tighten the screw securely to hold the adjustment. Mount the engine in a test tank, or move the boat into a body of water.
