I just cleaned the IACV (idle air control valve) and fixed the exact same problem for the cost of a $5 can of wallyworld CRC electronic cleaner spray and a T20 safety torx bit. Finally had enough of the ES on our '04 Rancher. Basically my plan is to remove remove the shift gears on the front crankcase over and then replace the shifter shaft with one from a manual shift rancher, and add a standard shift lever.
