The Thomas Garden Apartments were an early Grand Concourse development (1927-28) on the NE corner of East 156th. The 5-story walkup buildings surround a Japanese-style central court, with lanterns, watercourses and bridges. The complex is named for its architect, Andrew J. Thomas and was funded by John D.
