Sometimes the stable branch doesn't update for 3 months. Sometimes it's a month or so. It's almost always wiped when there is a new update, so it would be reasonable to expect .60 to be wiped when .61 releases. Yes DayZ does have official servers, they are in Official tab in server browser, they also share a hive which means you can transfer your character with all its loot from server to server. Buut today i got killed by a hacker on a community server sooo im just gonna take a loong break from the game. Never saw a cheater never got killed through walls in +500hr. got killed by a cheater twice on official during 2 days, just play community. 20 hours into a character on official NYC 6053 atm. No issues.

Single player is awesome, if the challenge is high enough. What i seem to find is the z-count is so low as for it to not be dangerous or threatening. I made my own server to up the z count, but made it open to the public to also add the possibility of coming across human players. I'm pretty into it. :) 3.
