The letter type codes for the month are probably most commonly encountered on the 220/228D lanterns. "A" means it was made during the first half of the year and "B" means the second half of the year. Also try to blast it with compressed air from where propane would usually go while it's in this configuration. I have a 242c lantern that was in my step fathers camping equipment. I brought it out of storage and set about getting it up and running. I cleaned up the burner housing, replaced the fuel seal, soaked and cleaned the generator, replaced the mantle. Pump the fuel pump 15-25 strokes, open the valve 1/4 turn and hear the hiss, and sputter.
